Gateway Registration

There are some features of D-STAR that require you to register your call sign with the global D-STAR system before you can take advantage of them.  You can register at any D-STAR repeater, but it’s recommended to register on the one closest to you that you intend to use the most. These steps will walk you through the process of registering with the KF7BFT repeater located at Tukwila Fire Station 52.

1.       To register your call sign to use the KF7BFT gateway, go to https://kf7bft.dstargateway.org/Dstar.do

2.       You may see the following certificate warning.  Click “Continue to this website (not recommended)

3.       You’ll see the following screen.  Click the “Register” button.

4.       Click “Yes” to agree with the agreement at the top.

5.       Enter your call sign in ALL CAPS. This will be your gateway web portal username.

6.       Enter your name, e-mail and password.

7.       Click “OK”.

8.       When the “Are you sure?” prompt appears, click “OK”.

9.       The following web page should be displayed.  Click “OK”. Your registration request has been submitted for approval. The gateway administrator must now log into the system to approve your request.  The approval may happen quickly or it may take a day or two depending on how often the administrator processes registrations.

10.   You can try to log in periodically to check on the status of your registration. Use the same URL listed in step 1, https://kf7bft.dstargateway.org/Dstar.do and use your callsign (IN UPPER CASE) and the password you entered during registration. If your registration is pending approval, you will see the following web page.

11.   Once your registration request has been approved, return to https://kf7bft.dstargateway.org/Dstar.do and login using your callsign (in ALL CAPS) and the password you chose when registering to complete your gateway registration.

12.   Once logged in, click on “Personal Information” at the top right of the page.

13.   Check the box to the left of “1:” next to your call sign on the first line.

14.   In the same row, click in the “initial” box to the right of your call sign and press the space bar. This will not show up but is very important. (You are inputting a space.)

15.   Do not check the “RPT” check box

16.   In the “pcname” field, enter your call sign (all lower case) followed by a dash “-“ followed by the type of radio you use, e.g. 92ad or dvdongle.  All characters in the “pcname” box need to be lower case and there should be no spaces.  The web page should look similar to the following page (with your personal information shown).  When complete, click on “Update”.

17.   When the “Are you sure?” prompt appears, click “OK”.

18.   When the “processing was completed.” prompt appears, click “OK”.

19.   Click “OK” and your registration is complete!

20.   Click “Logout” in the top right-hand corner of the web page to log out of the registration portal.

It may take a few minutes for your registration information to replicate to the rest of the D-STAR network. After that you are now all set to access to the entire D-STAR network.
